Stickers and WhatsApp

Why does WhatsApp show my sticker with a white box around it? Because the photo has no transparent background. When creating the sticker you can turn on background removal, which cuts the subject out inside your own phone. If you don’t, the sticker keeps the photo’s background and the box shows. The app warns you at the time.

Why do I need at least 3 stickers to add the pack? It is a WhatsApp rule, not ours: a pack has between 3 and 30 stickers. Until you reach three, the pack screen tells you how many are missing.

I changed a sticker and WhatsApp still shows the old one. It shouldn’t happen: when you edit a pack the app bumps its version number so WhatsApp doesn’t serve the cached copy. If it does happen, remove the pack from WhatsApp and add it again from the app.

Can I use my stickers in Telegram, Signal or Instagram? Yes, one at a time with the share button. The installable pack is WhatsApp-only: the other apps have no such mechanism, so there the sticker travels as an image.

Do my stickers work if I have no connection? Yes: they are on your phone. Creating, editing, building packs and sharing work offline and without an account. What does need a connection is adding a pack to WhatsApp, because it carries an ad; packs already in WhatsApp stay there without a connection. The catalogue also needs the network.

Animated stickers

What can I turn into an animated sticker? A video, a GIF or a ready-made animated WebP. It is cropped to a square and fitted to what WhatsApp accepts: 512×512 and 10 seconds at most.

What can I do with an animated one? Rather more than trim it. You can frame it, pick the segment, change the speed from 0.5× to 3×, play it backwards or in a back-and-forth loop, stack up to three of its nineteen effects, and add text and drawing with their own duration and their own way of coming in and out. And undo step by step. While you edit, the screen shows you the file size you are heading for.

What animated ones do not have is the shape, the outline and background removal, which belong to the photo editor. That is an accepted limitation, not a bug.

My animated sticker shows up as a still image in WhatsApp. That is what WhatsApp does when the file doesn’t meet its animation rules: it keeps the first frame. The app validates those rules before letting you add the pack, so if it happens to you, tell us at stickerfit.contact@gmail.com mentioning which pack.

The account

Do I need an account? Only to publish to the catalogue, follow someone, like things, have a profile and receive notifications. For everything else, no.

Why can I only sign in with Google? So as not to look after passwords. It is the risk surface we prefer not to have.

Why are you asking for my date of birth? For two things: to check you are 16, which is the minimum age for an account, and to know whether the ads you see can be personalised. We don’t show it to anyone and it doesn’t leave the server.

I want to delete my account. Settings → Account → Delete account. What disappears and what doesn’t is on the account deletion page.

The catalogue

What happens when I download a pack? It becomes yours: you can edit it, remove stickers or add more, just like one you made. The author gets one download.

Why is there an ad when I add a pack to WhatsApp? It is what pays for the app. It goes there and nowhere else: it appears once for each pack you add, whether yours or from the catalogue, and downloading from the catalogue carries no ad. You have to watch it through: if none is available or you close it halfway, the pack is not added and you can try again.

Are the ads personalised? Only if we know you are 18 or older, that is, if you have an account and the date you declared says so. In any other case —and always without an account— the ad is requested non-personalised.

Can I remove the ads? Yes: there is a one-off payment that removes them from the whole app, for good and with no subscription. You buy it from Settings or from your profile, and Google Play shows you the price right there, with your country’s tax included. Besides seeing no ads, adding packs to WhatsApp works offline again, because the ad was what needed the connection. It unlocks no features: what you buy is that nothing happens.

I bought premium and changed phone, or reinstalled. The purchase is tied to your Google account, not to your Sticker.fit account, so it restores itself when you sign in with the same Google account. If you still saw ads, Settings has an option to restore the purchase. Deleting your Sticker.fit account doesn’t take premium away either.

Can I use the app without a connection? Almost entirely: making stickers, editing them, building packs, your loose sticker library and sharing a sticker with any app work with no network. The only thing that needs a connection is adding a pack to WhatsApp, because of the ad. Packs already in WhatsApp stay there without a connection.

I published a pack and it’s gone. Check “My packs → Published”. If it was taken down, you’ll see there whether you took it down, whether we did —with the reason— or whether it is under review.

I saw something that shouldn’t be there. Report it from its page, or through the report content page. No account needed.

I blocked someone by mistake. Settings → Blocked accounts, and it can be undone there.

Notifications and settings

I’m not getting any notifications. Check two things: that the switch in Settings → Notifications is on, and that your phone doesn’t have the app’s notifications blocked. If it does, the screen itself tells you and takes you where it is fixed.

Notifications arrive late. That is how it is for now and it is worth saying plainly: notifications are sent in batches, so they can take up to an hour. The activity centre inside the app is always up to date; the notification is just the tap on the shoulder.

I turned notifications off and want them back on. The same switch. It won’t ask for permission again if you already granted it.

Can I put the app in another language? Yes, in Settings → Language, and there are ten: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Russian, Indonesian, Hindi, Bengali, Arabic and Urdu. Below Android 13 the change applies inside the app; on Android 13 and above it also appears in your phone’s language settings.

My packs

Do I lose my packs if I change phone? If you have Android’s backup switched on, no: packs are included in it. If you have it off, yes, they are lost, because there is no copy on our server of what you haven’t published.

I uninstalled the app and lost everything. Uninstalling wipes the app’s storage. If you had backup enabled, reinstalling should restore it; if not, there is no way to recover it from here.

None of this answers my problem
